Cellulose insulation is sometimes used to insulate homes built in Mississippi, however it isn’t the best choice for MS homeowners.
Cellulose is made of recycled newspaper and is typically applied to wall cavities dry or sprayed on wet. With either type of application, the downside is that it doesn’t do a great job of stopping air leakage, resulting in unnecessarily large energy bills for homeowners in the hot Mississippi climate.
Additionally, cellulose is significantly more expensive than fiberglass batts. So it isn’t really the best choice for MS homeowners due to its greater expense coupled with the fact that it doesn’t do a significantly better job than fiberglass at stopping air leakage.
